1. Who I Am and What This Covers
Rugg Travel is the travel advisory of Kevin Rugg, an independent travel advisor affiliated with Fora Travel, Inc. I am a solo advisor, so "I" throughout this policy means me.
This policy covers ruggtravel.com, the trip pages I set up for clients, and the trip planning app at app.ruggtravel.com. It does not cover the airlines, hotels, tour operators, or booking sites you reach from a link or an itinerary. Those have their own privacy policies.
2. What I Collect
If you are only reading the public site, I collect nothing beyond the analytics described in section 7, and that only if you accept it.
If you contact me or become a client, I collect:
- What you send me when you get in touch: your email address and whatever you tell me about the trip
- Account information (name, email address, profile photo) if you sign in with Google to use the app
- Trip details you or I enter: destinations, dates, budget, preferences, itineraries, bookings, and notes
- Traveler details needed to book or plan, which can include dates of birth, passport country, known traveler numbers, loyalty program numbers, dietary restrictions, and mobility needs
- Our correspondence
Any payment details you give me are not stored by me. They may be entered and stored in Fora's booking system.
3. How I Use It
- To research your trip and write up what I find
- To make bookings you ask me to make, and to hold the details needed for them
- To build and keep your trip page current while you travel
- To answer you, and to send you things about your trip
- To keep the site and app working, secure, and free of abuse
I do not sell your information, rent it, or use it for advertising. I do not send marketing email to clients who have not asked for it.
4. Suggestions in the App
Some features in the app generate suggestions using AI. The trip details needed are sent to Google's API to produce them. AI generated suggestions can be wrong and should always be double-checked.
5. Who Else Sees It
I share what is necessary, with:
- Airlines, hotels, tour operators, and other suppliers, to make a booking you asked for
- Fora Travel, Inc., which is the agency of record for bookings made through me
- Google Cloud, which hosts the app and stores its data, and Google's Gemini API as described above
- Anyone you share a trip page link with, which is your choice to make
- Law enforcement or others where the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety
6. Information About Other Travelers
When you add travel companions to a trip, you are giving me information about other people. Please only share what the trip actually needs, and make sure they are comfortable with it. If one of them asks me to remove their details, I will.
7. Cookies and Analytics
The site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read. It is off until you accept it in the banner, IP addresses are anonymized, and advertising features are disabled. Declining does not change how the site works.
The app also sets a session cookie to keep you signed in. That one is required for it to function and is not used for tracking.
8. How Long I Keep It
I keep trip records after a trip ends, because past trips are genuinely useful for planning the next one and because I may need them for accounting. If you want yours deleted, ask and I will delete it. Some records tied to a booking may have to stay with the supplier or with Fora regardless of what I delete on my side.
9. Security
Data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore and is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access rules restrict each account to its own data. Sign-in is handled by Google, so I never see your password. No system is perfectly secure, and I am one person rather than a company with a security team, which is part of why I do not store payment details.
10. Your Choices
Email me and I will do any of these, usually the same week:
- Send you a copy of what I hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete your account and your trip data
- Stop using your information for anything other than a booking already in progress
If you are in California, the EU, or the UK, you have these rights under law rather than as a courtesy, including the right to complain to a regulator. I will not charge you or treat you differently for exercising them.
11. Children
The app is not for children to sign up for on their own, and I do not knowingly create accounts for anyone under 13. Children travel on family trips all the time, and a parent adding a child as a traveler is expected and fine.
12. Changes
If I change this policy, the date at the top changes with it. If a change actually affects how I handle client data, I will email current clients rather than rely on you noticing.
